LEADERSHIP
Steve Browne (Ret.)
Executive Director, Treasurer
Steve is also one of the founding board members of JFVA. He served our great nation for twenty years in the US Navy, traveling to five different continents, a handful of duty stations, to include sea duty on many ships. Steve had the pleasure to serve on a special assignment for US Immigration Department for four years. He is also a war veteran serving in Vietnam for two years alongside his twin brother (Bruce), also in the US Navy, while participating in many battles, including the Tet Offensive in 1968. While in the Navy Steve has participated in many sports such as fast-pitch softball, football, ice hockey, fencing, scuba diving, sky diving, and Jai Alai.
Steve retired in 1979 to continue to serve his country as a US Postal worker in San Diego, California for another 22 years. Some of his best years were spent as a postman delivering mail to his customers, including famous writer and artist Dr. Seuss (Ted Geisel). Steve left the post office in 2002 and moved to Colorado where we continued to play ice hockey, and started martial arts, achieving brown belt status.
Steve is also one of the original members of Joint Forces Hockey and continues to play as the team’s oldest member, still able to dive and block pucks. Steve currently serves as JFVA’s Treasurer and Veteran Community Liaison serving his fellow veterans.
